Today's lunch break: leftover linguine and Violent Femmes
Looks like the flu is good for something, at least when professors get it. My 1p.m. class canceled means I will get two extra hours to sit here and listen to some more of our even newer additions to the collection:
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
The Clash - The Class
Fugazi - Fugazi
Bad Brains - Bad Brains
Toots & the Maytals - Funky Kingston

Lately I've been coming home for an hour before my 1 p.m. class to listen to Pet Sounds and eat apple cinnamon oatmeal. It's a pretty excellent wake-up combination to get your day started right--whether you like to get up at the crack of dawn or at 11:30 a.m. after you've already gone to class for an hour. Seriously, forget about Wheaties!

Sooo only four posts in and I haven't kept up already. I promise I will get this back on track.
So many records played between the last post and now! Our good friends in The Tired And True from Connecticut crashed here one night last week after their show at All Asia in Cambridge, and I don't think the record player ever stopped while they were here. We showed them a lot of our favorites, and played a lot of new ones, too. There's no way I can list every album we listened to, but some notables were:
Stray Cats - Built for Speed
George Thorogood and the Destroyers - Better Than the Rest
Carole King - Rhymes and Reasons
Megasus - Megasus
I am also proud to announce that we have some new additions to the collection:
The Black Keys - The Big Come Up
MC5 - Kick Out the Jams
The Clash - Combat Rock
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
The Specials - Specials
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Haven't listened yet, but you'll know when I do!

Madonna - Madonna
The Who - Quadrophenia - Sides 1 and 4
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The Greatest Hits of Frankie Valli and the Fabulous Four Seasons - Sides 1-6
I have to admit, Madonna was strange to listen to on vinyl. Coming out of this old stereo it almost seemed obscene, in a silly sort of way. I'm not a Madonna fan by any means in the first place, but if there's one of her albums I'd listen to it's this one. So I did, but it was weird. People talk about music sounding better on vinyl and I've felt that way about almost everything else I've listened to so far, but this one, not so much. I'll probably give it another go in the near future, though. Everything else today was golden. And no visits from the cops!
